After *NSYNC reunited at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards as part of Justin Timberlake's mega-performance honoring his Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, we thought we'd have to say "Bye, bye, bye" to this fivesome forever. (Yes, I did have to make that pun.) However, it looks like all of our tweenage dreams may be coming true again.

*NSYNC may be reuniting at Sunday night's Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special. This is according to a tweet posted Saturday on the group's official Twitter account.

Oddly enough, the tweet is referencing lyrics from the song "Together Again" from the 2014 movie Muppets Most Wanted. That is just strange. It would have seemed more appropriate for *NSYNC to at least reference one of their own songs and tweet something like, "Here we go. One more time. Everybody's feeling fine," but I guess beggers can't be choosers. Timberlake has already been confirmed as one of the gazillion special guests appearing on SNL 40 Sunday night. Chris Kirkpatrick also tweeted that he left for New York Saturday and brought along a tux with him. That seems to signal that he's got some special event to attend.

Of course, we're all wondering what the extent of their reunion will be. Will they be featured in a sketch? Will they perform? Will the other four members just provide moral support for Timberlake's big moment? Well, we all probably shouldn't get our hopes up too high for this reunion, because Lance Bass has served up a strong dose of reality. Bass tweeted that there will unfortunately not be an *NSYNC performance.

But he did confirm that all of the *NSYNC members will be attending SNL 40 during his SiriusXM radio show Dirty Pop with Lance Bass earlier this week. Unfortunately, it sounds like the *NSYNC reunion that was hinted at will really just consist of all five members being in the same room together.

"We will not be doing any kind of skits or anything. I'll just be in the audience enjoying the show," Bass said on Dirty Pop. "I don't know exactly what's happening, but I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the show. I don't have to work."

Aside from the guest list, much of SNL 40 has been shrouded in mystery so far. So perhaps Bass is jut trying to throw us off the scent and pretend that we won't see much else from their reunion so that when they do actually reunite, it will be extra-glorious.

We just want them to perform "Supersize It" again. Is that so much to ask?
