Apple has announced an event for March 9 that is largely expected to be a release event for the much anticipated Apple Watch.

The event will start at 10 a.m. and will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco.

The Apple Watch was first unveiled back in September alongside the iPhone 6 and new services such as Apple Pay. It is expected that Apple will also go into details about features of the Watch, more so than it already has done.

The event is titled "Spring forward," obviously in reference to time and the watch.

It is likely that Apple will release more than just the Apple Watch at the event. Recent rumors suggest that the company will also unveil a new MacBook Air design and may even show off a new Beats Music subscription service.

The entry of Apple into the growing smartwatch market is highly likely to kick the market into action, bringing the smartwatch into the public eye. Not only is Apple expected to sell millions, but it is also expected that wearables from other companies will sell much more than they already do due to the attention given to the market. To date, smartwatch makers have struggled to capture consumer attention, with all Android Wear devices combined selling 720,000 units in 2014.

It has been estimated that Apple could sell as many as 20 million Apple Watches by the end of the year.

"The Apple Watch will be instrumental in taking the wearables market to the next level of growth," said Ben Wood, chief of research at CCS Insights, the company behind the estimates. "If successful, it'll create a rising tide that will lift the whole market."

Pebble, another smartwatch creator, is the most successful smartwatch maker to date, selling 1 million units in the two years since it launched. The company recently unveiled a new model, called the Pebble Time, which boasts a color e-ink display and a battery life of up to 7 days.

The Apple Watch will be available in three overall versions, called the Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch, and Apple Watch Edition. It will also be available in a number of different color and band material combinations.

It is also possible that we will see a so-called iPad Pro be released, which is expected to be around 12-inches and will be the largest iPad available.

Last but not least, we could see a new Apple TV, which would make sense given the Apple Watch. It is expected that the Apple Watch will be usable as a remote for Apple TV and other Apple products.
