Bruce Lee, the legendary martial arts superstar, is finally getting a biopic. We have to wonder how it took so long for such a project to get the green light. Shannon Lee, the daughter of Bruce, made the information public but did not tell when fans should expect to see the project in action.

The popularizing of martial arts films in the west is mainly the doing of Bruce Lee. His career wasn't long; it is what some of us might call short and sweet. Some of his more famous films are Fist of Fury, Way of the Dragon and Enter the Dragon.

According to a report from Deadline, Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard and producer Janet Yang will oversee the project going forward. This new film is expected to shed more light on the grandmaster himself, more so than any other film before it.

There have been other films that talk a lot about Bruce Lee, but Shannon Lee is claiming they have only scratched the surface. As such, this new take will be the definitive biopic of the man himself.

"There have been projects out there involving my father, but they've lacked a complete understanding of his philosophies and artistry," Lee said. "They haven't captured the essence of his beliefs in martial arts or storytelling. The only way to get audiences to understand the depth and uniqueness of my father is to generate our own material and find amazing like-minded partners to work with."

"Many don't know that Bruce Lee was also a prolific writer and a creator of his own unique art and philosophy. That's what we want to show, not just his kick-ass physicality, but the depth of his character and beliefs," she added.

At the moment, we can only hope everything works out well for this biopic because we could learn so much more about Bruce Lee. We also hope the perfect actor is found to bring Bruce Lee to life. Such an actor would have to be acceptable to both the Chinese audience and the rest of the world who are huge fans of Bruce Lee.

Bruce Lee died when he was only 32 years old in 1973. His only son Brandon Lee died years later.
