About 25 years ago, Mark Hamill took on the role of super villain The Trickster in a little TV series called The Flash.

Fast forward to 2015 and Mark Hamill takes on the role of Trickster again in The CW's updated Flash series.

And now, thanks to a new trailer released by the network, we have our first look at Hamill's villain in the new series, along with some surprising still photos from the 1990s series.

The 1990s series also starred one John Wesley Shipp, who you may know as Barry Allen's father in The CW's new series.

Although we see the still photos of Hamill as Trickster from the old series, it's unlikely we'll see the story from the older series integrated into the new. It's highly probable that Trickster will get an all new origin story, although it's nice to see his colorful costume from the older series putting in an appearance.

However, you can watch this scene from the older series for your own amusement. To quote Cisco from the new series, "Someone was rocking the unitard."

Regardless, it's nice of the new series to give a nod to the series that came before it.

The trailer also shows us the return of some other villains, including Captain Cold, as well as a few new villains like Cold's sister and Weather Wizard.

Finally, Barry states his intent to travel back in time to save his mother, so we'll probably see some time travel in the series soon, too. Let's hope Barry finally finds the person responsible for killing his mother. Although most are betting on the culprit being Dr. Harrison Wells, series creators and stars promise a big twist at the end of the first season of The Flash.

"There's a big twist that even surprised me," says The Flash himself, Grant Gustin. "I've seen all the predictions online. No one has predicted the big twist that's coming at the end of this season."

The Flash returns to television on The CW on March 17, with Mark Hamill's Trickster debuting on March 31.
