The first Star Wars spin-off film, Rogue One, has been announced by Disney and fans are completely ecstatic. At this point, no one is 100 percent sure what this film is about, but after extensive digging, we've come up with a few theories.

Before the official announcement of the movie, rumors were circling the web claiming this spin-off movie would be about a group of bounty hunters making a move to steal the design plans of the Death Star. We can't say who these guys are working for or what the motive is should they succeed in their mission.

As it stands right now, it would appear as if the rumor is false, because SlashFilms managed to speak with a few people who attended the unveiling of Rogue One, and what they said paints an entirely different picture from what fans should expect.

According to the sources, Disney showed concept arts at the event, and these paintings come off as quite dark and gritty. It's like a war movie, but with soldiers in armor. One blogger who focuses on Disney-related topics said he came away with a Halo vibe.

"Although I'm quite shocked it hasn't been released yet, my personal take on it was it evoked the concept art of a video game," said Stitch Kingdom. "It personally screamed Halo to me. It was very dark and done in greens, so it evoked the idea that it was being done under the cloak of night."

If such is the case, then it could mean Rogue One could go down a dark path instead of the lighthearted tone we've come to love from previous movies in the Star Wars franchise.

In all honesty, the last truly dark Star Wars movie was Episode 3. That film really showed the diversity of the franchise, so we know if Rogue One goes dark, it would still have the potential to turn out into something special.

We can't wait to learn more about Rogue One and what it brings to the table. It would also be great if the stories told in Rogue One, could have an effect on movies set in the future, for example, Episode VIII.
