AMC's The Walking Dead is no stranger to controversial season finales, and it's likely that we're in for some big surprises and shocks with Sunday night's season five finale episode, "Conquer."

AMC recently released a sneak preview of that upcoming episode, teasing exactly what's going to happen with Rick Grimes and his gang.

It seems Rick is finally coming back around to the man he once was, almost a complete 360 to his character in episode one. Instead of wallowing in guilt and self-doubt, he's finally started fighting for the things that he feels matters again. Of course, that doesn't stop the zombie apocalypse.

However, there's a good likelihood that the season finale will have fans screaming, at least according to actor Michael Cudlitz, who plays Abraham Ford on the show.

"There will be tears, but also, once again, like the writers have been doing pretty consistently, it tees up a new beginning in a very, very different way," says Cudlitz.

Norman Reedus, who plays popular character Daryl Dixon also promised that fans would need Kleenex to get through the episode.

The official episode synopsis reads as follows: "Daryl finds trouble while on a run; Rick and the group feel like outsiders in Alexandria, where trouble approaches the gates."

One thing is likely, though. Someone will probably die. As major character deaths aren't off limits in the series, rumors have pegged pretty much every character on the show as the one to bite the bullet, from Rick to Daryl, both of which would make fans of the series angry.

Meanwhile, The Walking Dead is also getting spin-off series, which is sort of a prequel, but not really.

"The timeline is taking place a little bit earlier timeframe than the original show," says The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. "Rick Grimes woke up from a coma and was like, 'Oh, man, zombies, weird!' We're going to possibly see that unfold a little more in the other show. But I wouldn't call it 'prequel' because the entirety of the show is not going take place before. It will eventually form a path running concurrently."

Expect the spin-off series to debut later this year.
