The Android Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 is still nowhere to be found, even as the carrier rolls out the update to the older S4 and other Samsung devices.

AT&T has been on a roll lately with its Android Lollipop 5.0 update releases for Samsung devices. Recently the carrier released updates for the Galaxy Note 4.

The carrier also released an update for the Note 4's predecessor, the Galaxy Note 3, allowing users to get a taste of Lollipop.

Most recently, the company initiated a rollout of Android 5.0.1 Lollipop for the Galaxy S4 smartphone.

One device whose omission is glaring, however, is the Samsung Galaxy S5, the company's popular former flagship. The brand new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are already shipping to customers with Android 5.0 Lollipop preinstalled, and all the major carriers in the U.S. have released the Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5, even U.S. Cellular, which just rolled out their update for the smartphone.

With AT&T customers who own the Galaxy S5 already impatient, the recent rollout of the Android 5.0 lollipop update to the Galaxy S4, which is a year older than the Galaxy S5, only calls further into question why the carrier still hasn't introduced the update for the S5.

It could be that AT&T wants to avoid software issues that seem to be plaguing some galaxy S5 owners on other U.S. carriers Sprint, T-Mobile and especially Verizon, which rolled out the update months ago and then halted it with no explanation, only to recently reintroduce it. AT&T assured customers in a tweet that it was working on the Galaxy S5 update, but that was at the end of February, with no news since.

When AT&T announced the Note 3 Lollipop update before the Note 4 update, owners of Samsung's flagship phablet felt slighted that the year older device was put ahead of their own. Then, the next day, the Note 4 rollout began at AT&T. So, it's possible that the S4 and S5 rollouts will come in a similar tandem at the carrier. We'll be sure to bring you all the latest news as it develops. Meanwhile, if you've received the update on your smartphone or are still waiting, feel free to leave your comments in the section below.
