The adage "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" is pretty common in the technology spectrum, given all the channel strategies, manufacturing limitations and just traditional market competitiveness.

The biggest foes in one tech segment can often be collaborating in another, as the ultimate quest is to give the consumers what they want and make as much money as possible doing so.

It's not a huge surprise to hear that Apple and Samsung are partners in the effort to manufacture Apple device screens.

News reports claim Samsung Electronics' Display unit has put together a team of 200 solely focused on making Apple screens and also help with Apple's product sales strategy.

"The new exclusive team for Apple implies that the relationship between Samsung and Apple has improved," stated Jerry Kang, HIS research analyst. "This also suggests that Samsung Display will win screen orders from Apple, such as for the Apple Watch."

Samsung and Apple have neither publicly confirmed nor denied the matter, but their partnership appears to be a win-win for both market powerhouses. Samsung is looking to pump up its semiconductor and display business and Apple, obviously, wants to keep its leadership rank as a device maker whose products boast intense display quality.

Earlier this year, the two tech giants agreed to stop suiting each other outside the U.S. over supposed copyright claims regarding the iPhone design and wireless technology. Reports claim that Apple is now Samsung's biggest external component customer.

At the start of April, Samsung Display, which makes displays for Samsung and quite a few other smartphone makers, divided its internal units, the liquid-crystal display and light-emitting diodes teams, according to spokesperson Kim Ho Jung. This is newsworthy as Samsung Electronics owns the majority of Samsung's display business at 85 percent.

It was also recently revealed that Samsung has been tapped to make Apple's A9 chips for the next-gen iPhone.

Other industry reports claim LG has taken a similar business approach with Apple's manufacturing needs.

As Tech Times reported, Samsung is expecting stellar, possibly record-setting numbers, when it comes to the sale of its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. One of the most compelling aspects of the higher-end S6 Edge is its curved screen design - and it is likely the reason the work of the Samsung Display unit is being recognized as among the best in the world.
