DC Entertainment announced that Frank Miller, the writer of the Dark Knight Returns graphic novels, will return for another shot.

The comic will be called "The Dark Knight III: The Master Race" and DC, along with its many fans, will be hoping this take is better than the second one, "Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again."

Acclaimed writer Brian Azzarello will join Miller in the writing department as both men hope to create a masterpiece that will be talked about for ages. Azzarello is mainly known for his work on "100 Bullets," "Joker" and "Wonder Woman."

"Batman remains my favorite comic book hero and a sequel to Dark Knight is going to be daunting," said Miller, "but we'll do our best."

Dan DiDio and Jim Lee, co-publishers for DC Entertainment, are "thrilled to have Frank back home at DC writing Batman."

"The story he and Brian have crafted is an astounding and triumphant conclusion to this seminal body of work which influenced and shaped generations of readers and creators alike," they said.

The series is set to be published in the late fall and it will span eight issues. We suspect this third take will be the end of the story, but if it turns out to be great, DC might keep it going even if Miller chooses to stay away from future Dark Knight projects.

We understand that for the past six months, Miller and Azzarello have been collaborating on "The Dark Knight III: Master Race." However, DC has yet to locate the artists who will draw the characters. We would love it if they go along with a drawing that is similar to the first because that would give homage to one of the best comic books in history.

If the comic turns out to be a masterpiece, we are confident some aspects of it will be turned into film. Batman v Superman is loosely based on the Dark Knight Returns.
