ZTE has taken the wraps off its latest Android smartphone—the bezel-free Nubia Z9—beating rival Oppo to the race.

The Nubia Z9 from ZTE features many firsts and imbibes innovative features that are bound to entice consumers. The Frame Interaction Technology (FIT) allows gesture- and grip-based control and seems to be a handy addition.

The novel FIT feature enables a user to conduct specific actions on the smartphone by interacting with the device's sides. Here are some things FIT allows you to do:

1. By rubbing both the edges of the display, users can dim or brighten the Nubia Z9's screen.

2. By using fingers on the edges, users can launch the camera app with ease.

3. By squeezing the edges of the smartphone twice, users can trigger a screenshot.

4. The Z9 can also be quickly unlocked with pre-defined grip instead of using passcodes.

5. The smartphone's camera can be toggled by simply holding the device horizontally with fingertips.

The Nubia Z9 also offers another innovative technology dubbed TiO, the smartphone's finger-scanning capabilities. However, instead of being located on the home button, the fingerprint sensor is available on the side of the Nubia Z9. The TiO feature, however, will only be available in the top-end Exclusive model of the Nubia Z9.

The ZTE smartphone boasts a 5.2-inch curved glass display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. Under the hood, it houses the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and Adreno 430 GPU.

The smartphone also touts a 16MP rear-facing camera. Like the LG G4, the Nubia Z9 is among the first phones to deploy Sony's new IMX234 CMOS sensor. The camera has f/2.0 aperture and is capable of 4K video recording.

The ZTE smartphone also packs in an 8MP selfie camera with an 80-degree wide angle lens with an aperture of f/2.4.

The smartphone has a 2,900 mAh battery and will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. The NFC and LTE-enabled Nubia Z9 will also boast an IT blaster and three capacitive Android Keys.

The Nubia N9 is set to go on sale in China from May 21 (barring the Exclusive model). It will be available in three models: Classic (32GB with 3GB of RAM), Elite (64GB with 4GB of RAM) and Exclusive (64GB with 4GB of RAM + TiO). The pricing is as follows:

Classic - 3,499 CNY (approximately $564)

Elite - 3,999 CNY (approximately $645)

Exclusive - 4,499 CNY (approximately $725)
