Dying Light is a massive game, and that's one of the charms that has set it apart from the countless other zombie titles on the shelf. Techland's latest zombie-survival game features an absolutely huge map, full of flesh-hungry zombies, but for PC gamers, that's only the start. The studio released its development tools to the public, meaning anyone with a bit of programming knowledge can create their own mods and maps.

While the game's modding community is still small, it's getting bigger and bigger every day - which means that fans are going to start seeing the title reworked in some very interesting ways soon enough.

Considering the community is just starting to pick up steam, it's no surprise that most of the published mods out there are relatively small: more often than not, they're tweaks, such as changing the zombies' spawning rate or player abilities.

However, there are a few mods on the way with a much bigger sense of scope...and one of the best of the bunch is called 'Dying Space.'

In case you were thrown by the incredibly deceptive title, this is Dying Light - in space:

So, the first thing people will notice (aside from the vast emptiness that is space) is that there aren't any zombies. It's a shame, true - but to ignore this mod simply because there's nothing to kill would be a shame.

Considering how young the Dying Light modding community is, seeing something like this is incredibly impressive, and Steam user Pawciak did a fantastic job crafting this space environment. The space station, the asteroid field, even the reveal that players are now in space - everything is extremely well-done. There's nothing even remotely like it in Dying Light...which is exactly the sort of thing mods are supposed to do.

It's definitely not the longest mod out there, as the obstacle course will only take a few minutes to complete, but it's an intriguing look at what the modding community will be able to do in the future. Let's just hope that Pawciak doesn't stop modding any time soon.

If you want to try out the mod for yourself, you can head on over to the Dying Space Steam Workshop page.
