The CW has released the first trailer of its Arrow and The Flash spinoff, Legends of Tomorrow. It's a team-up movie that features the likes of both villains and heroes in a bid to stop an immortal being from taking over the world.

Today, we're not going to talk about the team, but the person who created it. That person is none other than Rip Hunter, a time traveler who returned to the past to assemble the new team.

From what we can tell from the trailer, he's from London, and a member of the group that calls itself the Time Masters.

The trailer didn't say much about Rip Hunter, so we're going to visit the world of comics to educate those without knowledge on who this character really is, and what he is capable of doing where abilities and powers are concerned.

Who is Rip Hunter:

We have no idea who Rip Hunter really is due to him being a time traveler. He keeps his identity a secret because someone might travel back in time to when he was just a boy or even before he was born and destroy him. However, he has several aliases apart from Rip Hunter, and they are Ripley and Richard.

Rip Hunter is a man who possesses no powers but is capable of traveling through time due to his Time-Sphere. Despite not having powers, he should not be taken for granted because he is well trained in all forms of martial arts and fighting techniques known to man. He also has genius-level intellect, which is expected since he lives hundreds of years in the future.

We should also point out that Booster Gold is his father, so it should come as no surprise why he chose to become a time traveler since his father travels through time as well.

Many things about the character could be different in Legends of Tomorrow. However, the basic characteristics are right on the money, and we're happy about that. Additionally, since the series is mainly about White Canary, The Atom, Firestorm, Hawkgirl, Captain Cold and Heat Wave, chances are we might see a lot of Rip Hunter in the series.
