The Sony Xperia Z3 and Z1s Android 5.0 Lollipop updates are imminent for T-Mobile, and the Verizon Z3v is next in line. T-Mobile has officially announced that the update has moved into carrier testing.

It appears as if the Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the Sony Xperia Z3 and Z1s on T-Mobile are just around the corner, as the carrier has moved the handsets into carrier testing. The UNcarrier made the official announcement on its software update page. The Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the two devices were previously in manufacturer development, and once T-Mobile moves a device into the carrier testing phase, it typically isn't long until the update is actually released.

Sony officially announced the release of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Z3 several months ago and followed with a rollout of the update to unlocked versions in the U.S. T-Mobile and Verizon are the only U.S. carriers that offer the phone, with Verizon carrying its own branded version, dubbed the Xperia Z3v.

Now, with T-Mobile's release of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its Z3 imminent, Verizon is next in line as the only U.S. carrier left to issue an update for its version. Verizon typically does not release any information regarding upcoming OS software updates until they are actually released, but the impending T-Mobile release is a hopeful sign for Z3v owners.

Recently, the Xperia Z3 was removed from T-Mobile's website, leading to speculation that the carrier would no longer be offering the smartphone on its network and might not be providing an Android 5.0 Lollipop update to current owners of the device. These fears subsided a few weeks later when the handset not only returned but was offered at a substantial discount.
