OnePlus has posted on its social media channels, primarily Twitter, a picture of a half-erased OnePlus One smartphone with a pencil and eraser on the side and the words: "Time to change."

OnePlus, the additional caption read, is searching for ways to shake up the technology industry, and June 1 is the all-important date for this "change."

The next few weeks will be exciting for the tech industry as Google I/O and Apple's WWDC are among the highly anticipated scheduled events. OnePlus, of course, would want a piece of the hype.

OnePlus made waves in 2014 with their OnePlus One phone, which boasts flagship features at a lower price compared to other known brands with their own flagship smartphones. OnePlus even scored high among reviewers.

The company has been vocal about plans to release new phones for 2015, although earlier reports claimed the OnePlus Two is expected to be launched through an invitation-only purchase system (the same tactic used for the first phone), sometime in the third quarter of the year.

The supposed OnePlus Two prototype came out on Geekbench on May 20 with few details: it would boot out of the box Android 5.1 Lollipop and sport Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM. Many are expecting high-end specs such as a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen, large storage, high-end camera, LTE connectivity and a fingerprint scanner, so that it would be a worthy successor to OnePlus One.

Pete Lau, CEO and founder of OnePlus, hinted that their upcoming model OnePlus Two would be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor and cost around $400 on the market.

The last big announcement made by OnePlus is that their original OnePlus One orders would be fully opened permanently and that invites would no longer be required before purchasing.

Some reports suggest that the June 1 announcement is related to the OnePlus Two specs, but the phone could be launched much later, perhaps between July and September.

Others speculate it is too early for OnePlus Two to be showcased, and the announcement could just be an update for OnePlus One. It could also be a different mid-range phone, but one could only guess (and hope!) the next smartphone would not be disappointing. Many are genuinely interested in what OnePlus is up to and, with only a couple of days left, it would not be so secret anymore.
