Samsung will not launch the Galaxy Note 5 in July but the phablet will be launched in September like its predecessors. The disappointing news though is that the impending Galaxy Note 5 may not come pre-loaded with Android M OS.

Samsung normally unveils its flagship Galaxy S smartphone during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February and the Galaxy Note smartphone during the IFA trade fair, which normally takes place in September. This year, the IFA is scheduled from Sept. 4 to Sept. 9.

There were speculations that Samsung may launch the Galaxy Note 5 earlier in July rather than in September. However, Samsung Electronics President Jong-Kyun Shin recently confirmed that the Galaxy Note 5 will be launched in September and not earlier.

Google also announces its new mobile operating system (OS) in May or June and releases the software in early October, which is just before the Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone makes way to the stores.

The upcoming Android M may be released in October but it seems that the Galaxy Note 5 will not come packed with the new operating system.

A recent report highlights that Google does not hand over final builds of its latest Android OS to OEMs before the software has been released in the market. If Samsung does not receive the OS build in advance it may not incorporate the new Android M in its Galaxy Note 5 handsets.

"This basically makes it impossible for Samsung's Galaxy Note to ship with the latest version of Android," per Softpedia.

Even though the Samsung smartphone may not come with Android M straight out of the box, the Galaxy Note 5 may get a software update soon after it hits the shelves.

A Gottabemobile report suggests that even though there are no confirmation if the Galaxy Note 5 will come running on Android M or Android 5.1 Lollipop, there are still chances that the upcoming Samsung will get Android M.

Some rumors have suggested that Google will prepone the release date of Android M to August this year. In such a case, the Galaxy Note 5 may come running on the new Android M straight out of the box.

The actual release date of Android M remains unknown. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 fans will have to wait another few months to find if the phablet will come running on Android 5.1 Lollipop or Android M.
