Delays are nothing new for comic books. Series from both DC and Marvel are delayed all the time for any number of reasons: artists may be too busy, scripts may be rewritten, or entire projects get cancelled. It's just like any other art form — things can go smoothly, but a lot of the time, something is bound to go wrong.
Case in point: Captain America: White is a highly anticipated miniseries from the minds of veteran comic book gurus Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. This is the same duo that gave fans the genre-defining Batman: The Long Halloween and Daredevil: Yellow, so it's understandable why fans are so excited to see the duo's take on Marvel's First Avenger. The only problem? The series was first revealed back in 2008.
For the past seven years, fans have been hoping that Captain America: White hadn't been cancelled. Comic books get delayed, sure, but a nearly decade-long delay is unheard of. Thankfully, it looks like fans will actually get their hands on the book, and soon — Captain America: White is scheduled to hit store shelves this September!
If you're the kind of Marvel fan who's used to Captain America dealing with modern-day life, then Captain America: White might throw you for a loop. The miniseries deals with Captain America meeting his young ward during the worst that World War II had to offer. That said, you can expect all of the Avengers mainstays to make an appearance. Iron Man, Thor, Goliath and The Wasp should play a big role in the story — just don't expect Captain America: White to focus solely on Cap's days in the 21st century.
