A larger Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is reportedly in the cards and a newly-surfaced render now shows its alleged design.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has stirred quite some interest on the smartphone market, offering neat functionality with its dual-edge screen and boasting powerful specs and features all around. The intriguing handset is already available in many markets worldwide and is seems off to a great start, but another variant could be en route.

A super-sized, phablet version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is expected to arrive later this year as the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, rocking a massive display. Previous rumors pegged the display size at 5.7 inches, but the latest leak from reliable tipster @OnLeaks now indicates that the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will come with a 5.5-inch screen.

More specifically, the tipster reveals the alleged dimensions of the galaxy S6 Plus - 6.08 x 2.98 x 0.26 inches (154.45 x 75.80 x 6.85 mm), which would translate to a 5.5-inch display size.

OnLeaks doesn't share other details regarding the device's hardware specifications or launch, but the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is expected to share mainly the same specs as the existing Galaxy S6 Edge.

The larger model should sport many the same QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, albeit on a 5.5-inch display it would translate to a lower pixel density than on the 5.1-inch screen of the existing Galaxy S6 Edge. In terms of processing power, however, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus might pack a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset instead of the octa-core Exynos 7420 processor powering the S6 Edge. Screen size and processor aside, the rest of the specifications should sport no notable differences compared to the "regular" Galaxy S6 Edge.

Another interesting rumor also indicates that the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus could rock RAW photography support, which would make it the first Samsung handset to do so, but it remains in the rumor state for now.

No official confirmation is available at this point, but the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is expected to make its official debut sometime in the third quarter of 2015. This means the phablet could launch as early as July, or as late as September. In the meantime, take everything with a grain of salt.
