There are many situations where you have to put your iPhone on silent. You may be in a very long meeting, at dinner with your parents or in class and by the time the ordeal is over, you have 17 notifications for all the messages and calls you missed.

Who among us hasn't wished for a more discrete way to receive notifications? Now, thanks to a new Kickstarter project, we might just have found the solution to this very first-world problem. A new iPhone case, called Lunecase, harnesses the electromagnetic energy naturally emitted by your iPhone to light up each time you receive a notification. It even lights up with the appropriate app icon so you know which app is issuing the alert.

The case currently has only two built-in displays that light up, so you'll only see the call or message app icons, but still, it's a super cool idea. Each time you receive a call or text message, the case lights up with the correct notification symbol. The case has no battery and no need for external energy because it uses the excess electromagnetic energy already being emitted by your iPhone.

Lunecase looks and feels just like a standard iPhone case and comes in basic black and white. It looks deceptively simple, but that first impression quickly gives way to a serious novelty factor as soon as you receive a notification. Lunecase is sure to get people talking and it might even make a few '90's kids nostalgic for those light up sneakers they had when they were little.

If you're interested in Lunecase, a $29 contribution will get you a black Lunecase and the start up's eternal gratitude. Since the startup aims to price Lunecase at $50 retail, now's a good time to get it for half the price. The Kickstarter project just launched on April 29, but it already has raised more than $13,000 of its $50,000 goal.
