The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited has rolled out its first major patch on gaming consoles Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

With a massive size of 15.9 GB, patch v01.04 for PlayStation 4 improves the overall in-game performance and fixes some of the common in-game crashes. According to The Elder Scrolls Online Twitter account, the first patch is huge because it also includes patches v01.01 to v01.03. The company explains that it is working to ensure future patches will not be cumulative. PlayStation 4 players have posted complaints of slow download due to the size of the patch. It is highly suggested to download the patch v01.04 during non-peak hours.

Aside from improving the queue system screen, patch v1.0.0.5 for Xbox One also reduces the frequency of disappearing NPCs and addresses several issues related to some animations and gameplay.

Some notable fixes for the PlayStation 4 include game crashes while on a mount. Game input is also not disabled while pulling up the PlayStation Network overlays. The patch also addresses the unintentional bypassing of the Realm Select screen that has resulted in going directly to the Character Select screen.

On the other hand, the patch for the Xbox One platform fixes the possible crashing of the game after switching to a different account. It addresses the problem of players being stuck at a loading screen when using connected standby in the Xbox One options and the Voice Chat IDs on loading screens. The Add Friend option issue in Voice Chat menus has also been resolved.

The company announced a scheduled maintenance on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms on June 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT. The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited players will not be able to log into the game on their gaming consoles during the five-hour period.

It is great that game publishers Bethesda and ZeniMax Online are proactive in addressing the issues for console players. Forums have indicated that the updates are a continuing work in progress, and gamers could expect more fixes and improvements in the future for The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.
