The NFL dealt with everything from domestic violence to child abuse, DUIs and even Deflategate last season.

As part of the league's beef-up personal conduct policy, the shield is looking to hire a new position: Director of Digital Forensic Investigations. Added to the NFL's online job board last week, the Director of Digital Forensic Investigations will work in the league's security department and deal with "evidence related to social media, computers, telephones and mobile devices," as detailed on the position description.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of different social media outlets, as well as experience conducting a wide array of criminal investigations and be equipped with a rolodex of law enforcement officials as contacts.

A lot of the NFL's push for more-bolstered internal investigations comes from its handling of the infamous Ray Rice domestic violence situation last year. The ex-Baltimore Ravens running back punched his then-fiancée, Janay Palmer, in an Atlantic City, NJ hotel casino elevator last February and the league suspended him for only two games...without ever seeing the surveillance footage.

When the vicious footage was released in September, the Ravens cut Rice and the league suspended him indefinitely. The NFL also hired three women in September with thorough experience in dealing with domestic violence incidents to further its understanding and equip them on dealing with such situations better in the future.

Under the expanded personal conduct policy, owners approved for the league to conduct more thorough investigations involving players and team employees. This added position will only help.
