Mobile World Congress Shanghai is well and truly underway, with ZTE making its presence known with a number of new devices. Among those is the new Blade D6 smartphone.

The Blade D6 features a 5-inch HD display and a thin, light body. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, along with ZTE's MiFavor 3.2 UI over the top.

The new Blade D6 looks extremely similar to the Blade S6 that was released by ZTE earlier this year, which basically means it looks a lot like the Apple iPhone 6. Like the iPhone 6, the Blade D6 is made from aluminum and is only 6.9 mm, or 0.23 inches, thick.

The Blade D6 is, however, taller than the iPhone 6 and features a 1280 by 720 pixel display. Not only that, but the device is midrange, while the iPhone 6 would be considered high-end.

The device also makes use of MediaTek's 64-bit quad-core MTK6735 processor, which clocks at 1.3 GHz. With LTE connectivity, dual-SIM support, a 2200 mAh battery, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of expandable memory, the device really is pretty good for a midrange phone.

According to ZTE, the Blade D6 was designed with selfie lovers in mind, featuring an 88-degree wide-angle 5 MP front-facing camera and a 13 MP rear-facing camera. The D6 also includes what ZTE is calling an "innovative 3 in 2 tray holder," which is able to accommodate a micro SIM, nano SIM and even microSD card all in the same area.

The ZTE Blade D6 will be available starting over the next few months in several color variants, including silver, gold, pink and gray. ZTE has not yet announced the price of the device, nor whether it will be available in the U.S., however, the company has announced that it will be available in Australia, Russia and Japan.

The Blade D6 isn't the only thing that ZTE announced at Mobile World Congress Shanghai, as it also announced the ZTE SmartHome, an app designed to allow users to communicate with devices like light switches via ZigBee, a wireless protocol.

"We're delighted to unveil both our first ever smart home gateway and the latest rendition in our affordable premium Blade series at this year's Mobile World Congress Shanghai," said ZTE Mobile Device CEO Adam Zeng. "The smart home revolution is fast upon us, and our strong track record in R&D has allowed us to deliver an innovative product to support this emerging trend."
