Sony is beta testing a new Android concept software for the Xperia Z3 handset and is inviting users from Sweden to try and evaluate the software to help them gain a feedback on improving the software.

Sony is opening the pilot program to an exclusive and limited number of users in Sweden, which is likely because that is where the company's R&D department is headquartered. Interested users can apply by filling out a form to land a spot in the group of beta testers.

Sony explains the new Android concept on its official site as "a new initiative for Sony users that have a passion for innovation and the latest technology." If all goes well, Sony may just be able to gain enhanced brand recognition on its handsets, which could eventually lead to better sales performance.

Sony is outshined by rivals Samsung and LG when it comes to being an Android authority. Still, the company is known for producing high-end devices in its Xperia Z lineup, which has earned quite a following of their own. The new Android concept software somehow hints that big things are in the pipeline for Sony, which is timely enough as IFA 2015 draws nearer.

While the pilot program is solely available to users of the Sony Xperia Z3, there are speculations that it will eventually be rolled out to the rest of the current Sony handsets, including those that will be launched in the future. Details of what exactly the concept will be like are still unclear although it seems like the company is likely to set up its beta community in a Google+ page while the test is running. Beta testers will have to use their personal data from the beginning of the trial up until the final stage. It is also assumed that the software will not be based on Android 5.1 since the company has said earlier that the OS version is coming towards the end of the month.

Sony's beta testing will start running on July 27 and shall continue up to Sept. 13, 2015. Hopefully, within this period, Sony would be able to gain ample evaluation data from the participants who are expected to share their experience and to contribute in shaping the future of Sony's software input for improved services, products and processes.
