Tyrese Gibson is hungry for a lead role, which is why he has been pushing hard to become one of the next Green Lanterns. The actor claimed that he spoke with Warner Bros. but may have to wait awhile before he knows what is what.

We know that Warner Bros. is planning a Green Lantern Corp movie. This means there will be more than one Lanterns in this film. The big question, however, is who these Lanterns will be. Will they include the likes of Hal Jordan played by Chris Pine and John Stewart played by Tyrese Gibson?

Nothing is concrete at the moment, but it would seem as if Tyrese is the front runner for the John Stewart role, or maybe an alien Green Lantern, who knows.

Here is what the actor had to say during an interview with Collider:

"I've already had a couple of meetings at Warner Bros., so we'll see what happens. I do believe that there needs to be more black superheroes out there, but that's not even my motivation. I think I would be the best Green Lantern and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there's a fanbase of fans out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my thing. So I would love to confirm something today but I can't. We'll just keep following up."

It all sounds really great for Tyrese that he managed to hold several meetings with Warner Bros. since he began his campaign for the role. However, is he a good enough fit for John Stewart?

We haven't seen Tyrese in a film for a very long time that proves to us that he can act outside of a comedic character who pops one-liners on a regular basis. If he were attempting to land a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then we'd definitely understand, but this is the DC Cinematic Universe where things are more on the serious side of things.

We can only hope that if he gets the job, he'll give fans a splendid performance and surprise us all.
