The zombie-themed Infection could be the next new game mode for Halo: The Master Chief Collection on the Xbox One, as hinted through a post on the Halo Waypoint blog by developer 343 Industries.

According to the developer, the playlist team is continuing its work on the future updates for the title, with the high possibility that there will be more discussions about things such as Infection over the coming weeks.

Infection was first seen in Halo 3, which was launched back in 2007, and was also a part of Halo: Reach. In the game mode, one player begins as the infected and attempts to kill all other players to spread the infection until only one player is left alive. The mode was re-imagined as Flood for Halo 4.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has been receiving new playlists as developed by 343 Industries since the title was launched almost a year ago in November 2014. The previously released playlist, named the Action Sack, has proven to be very popular with gamers, as the playlist featured some of the craziest multiplayer modes ever released for the Halo franchise.

"Since its release, it's been consistently ranked towards the top, and for a few days this past week, it even saw more players than any other playlist," said 343 Industries about the Action Sack playlist.

While playlists that are featured are expected to attract a significant number of players over its first days, 343 Industries will not be surprised if the playlist will continue to be ranked near the top, as gamers enjoy the wacky and oftentimes nonsensical chaos that the Action Sack playlist offers.

In the blog post, 343 Industries also stated that it is currently developing the next content update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, though no details on what could be expected were revealed.

The developer, however, revealed that it is monitoring all the feedback that Halo: The Master Chief Collection gamers are posting on social media such as on Twitter, the Halo sub-Reddit and on the Halo Waypoint itself. The company said that it will give priority to which items will be included or fixed in the next content update based on the contents of the feedback that it receives.
