Big Team Battle has always been a well-loved multiplayer mode in the Halo series, but fans should not expect to play it when they purchase Halo 5: Guardians. Well, they can expect to play it, but only after the game goes on sale.

We're not certain when Big Team Battle will come after launch, but it seems as if 343 Industries is doing this to get players more invested in Warzone than anything else. In our eyes and the eyes of the developer, Warzone is very similar to Big Team Battle, so players who enjoy that mode should feel right at home here.

"Warzone is the evolution of [Big Team Battle], on steroids," posted studio head Josh Holmes on Twitter. He also went on to add that the team would "also be adding a more traditional [Big Team Battle] mode post-launch."

Warzone is a 12v12 multiplayer mode that was first announced back at E3 2015. Matches based on this mode will take place on the largest Halo 5 maps, and for good reason.

We've seen several gameplay videos of Warzone in action, and we can say for sure that it looks like a lot of fun. It also looks a lot better than what Big Team Battle has to offer. The only downside here is that players can choose to pay in order to kick things off with the best weapons, but 343 Industries has assured fans that this should not amount to an issue.

It is very difficult to believe that players paying to gain an advantage where weapons are concerned will never become a problem, so before we go ahead and attack what 343 Industries is trying to do here, we would rather play the game first to see what it all entails.

Apart from Big Team Battle, Halo 5 will also launch without split-screen multiplayer. However, unlike Big Team Battle, which will be added at a later date, split-screen multiplayer is dead in the water.

Halo 5: Guardians will hit the Xbox One as an exclusive title on Oct. 27.
