Oppo has released its newest smartphone, the Oppo R7 Plus, which is being hailed as the device to fill in the gaps left by the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Many were a little disappointed when the Note 5 was announced by Samsung because of the fact that the company included a rather small battery and removed the microSD card slot found on most of its previous devices. The Oppo R7 Plus brings all of these things back in a classy chassis.

"The body of the R7 Plus was designed with a single piece of aircraft-grade magnesium aluminium alloy and has undergone 48 polishing processes before finally attaining [its] exquisite all-metallic body," says Oppo on the website for the R7 Plus.

Apart from the unibody enclosure itself, the device features a 13 megapixel camera module as well as a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. The display of the device is six inches, with a resolution of 1080p and a subtle curve toward the edge of the device. As far as the battery of the device goes, it has a capacity of 4,100 mAh, which is certainly not bad at all.

The standard storage and memory on the device is 32 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM, with the storage being expandable to 128 GB through the microSD card. It is important to note, however, that the microSD card will take up the same slot as the second nano-SIM for the device, so if you want dual-SIM cards, then a decision will need to be made.

The processor for the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, and while that should be enough processing power for most uses, it's not quite up to the standard of other flagships on the market today.

Of course, while the Oppo R7 Plus does include a number of features left out on the Galaxy Note 5, it's not perfect. For example, it does not support 4G in the U.S. It will also only be usable on T-Mobile and AT&T without LTE. There's no word just yet on when the device will be available in the U.S., however, it goes on sale today in China and Southeast Asia for 2,999 yuan, or around $470.
