Screen size, camera capabilities, operating system and more are among the important features that a mobile phone user takes into account before buying a smartphone. Long battery life is also an important factor for many customers to select their ideal phone; however, the way a smartphone battery is charged is missed by many phone users.

The iPhone 6 is undoubtedly one of the most-popular smartphones in the market that boasts top-notch features and also has a premium price tag attached to them. However, the iPhone 6 is not the fastest charging smartphone available in the market.

Tom's Guide conducted a test of seven popular smartphones to find out how these phones charge. The handsets included: Asus Zenfone 2, Google Nexus 6, OnePlus 2, Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4, Motorola Droid Turbo and iPhone 6.

The battery of Asus Zenfone 2 charges to 17 percent just after 5 minutes. In the same time frame, Google Nexus 6 and the OnePlus 2 charge to 12 percent. The battery of Galaxy S6, LG G4 and the Droid Turbo charges 11 percent. The battery of iPhone 6 charges only 6 percent after being charged for 5 minutes.

After being on charge for 15 minutes, the battery of the Asus Zenfone 2 charges 32 percent. The Galaxy S6 charges 27 percent, Nexus 6 by 25 percent, LG G4 by 23 percent and the Droid Turbo by 22 percent. The OnePlus 2 and the iPhone 6 have the slowest charging battery and after 15 minutes on charge it charges only 20 percent.

The Asus Zenfone 2 is the winner for smartphone users who want to charge their smartphone quickly.

After being on charge for 30 minutes, the Galaxy S6 joins the leading position with the Asus Zenfone 2 and the batteries of both the handsets are charged by 53 percent. The Nexus 6 is charged by 44 percent, LG G4 by 42 percent, Droid Turbo by 38 percent, iPhone 6 by 36 percent and OnePlus 2 by 34 percent.

The Galaxy S6 leads the race and the battery is charged to 100 percent in 1 hour and 22 minutes. The battery of LG G4 reaches 100 percent charge in 1 hour 36 minutes. The Droid Turbo takes 1 hour and 47 minutes, while the Asus Zenfone 2 and Nexus 6 takes 1 hour and 49 minutes to be 100 percent charged. The battery of the OnePlus 2 takes 2 hour and 10 minutes to get 100 percent charged while the iPhone 6 is at the last position and it take about 2 hours and 35 minutes to get fully charged.

Smartphone usage has increased a lot in the last few years with customers accessing media, browsing the web and more on the go. Smartphone makers are focusing to increase the battery capacity of their handsets but they should also focus on increasing the charging speed of mobiles to attract more customers.
