Just announced on a Twitch livestream, Cliff Bleszinski's new studio Bosskey says that its first game, which the developer has been teasing for days, is called LawBreakers. Bleszinski is best known as the lead designer (and unofficial creator) of Gears of War, but he parted ways with Epic Games in 2012 to create a studio of his own.

The conceit of LawBreakers, aka what sets it apart, is that it turns gravity into a weapon. Not a Half-Life 2 "gravity gun" kind of weapon. Fluctuating laws of gravity that can be manipulated at will are a defining trait of the game, even giving players superhuman abilities.

LawBreakers is an arena shooter that will operate under the free-to-play model. Two opposing sides are broken into numerous sub-factions that constantly battle over the fate of the planet. At your disposal: advanced scifi weaponry, jetpacks, and gadgets that can do all sorts of crazy things to gravity.

The game's backstory involves a mining accident on the moon that destroys it, an event later dubbed "the Shattering," unleashing end-of-the-world natural disasters on Earth. Mankind survives and rebuilds, but gravity never returns to the way it was. Now, gangs from around the world are uniting under the banner of the "Breakers," who are trying to seize global power. So a multinational law enforcement agency is formed (the letters "TASC" can be seen on uniforms in the reveal video, below, so it's an easy assumption that this is the new military's name) to keep the peace and stop the Breakers.

That's about all we know for now. Check out the announcement video.

LawBreakers is expected sometime in 2016.

Update: Cliff Bleszinski has stated on Twitter that gameplay will be unveiled on Friday, August 28.
