The latest rumor on the upcoming Mi Pad 2 from Xiaomi suggests that the tablet will have with a dual-boot OS.

If this is the case, Mi Pad 2 users will be able to easily switch between Windows 10 and Android, which could either be Lollipop or the much awaited Marshmallow.

The feature was first reported by Chinese website Mobile Dad. According to the site, customers who plan to purchase the upcoming tablet will get more than Windows 10 on their devices.

"A new generation of [millet] tablet will support Win10 systems (after [Millet] 4 already supports win10 a), and will use this year flat circles popular dual system Android5.0 + Win10," says the Chinese site on a page, which appears to be translated.

The site also says that since the device will run Windows 10, it should have features that can support the new OS. These include a bigger display, which could measure at either 9.7 or 10.1 inches, and an Intel 14nm processor. The tablet will also likely feature a 2,560 by 1,440 resolution, either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, a 13MP main camera and an all-metal design to give it a more premium look and feel.

Xiaomi is not the only Chinese manufacturer that offers dual-boot functionality for its devices. There are a number of smaller and white-label manufacturers that also offer Windows 10 and Android on the same device.

Asus is also known to have dabbled in dual-boot in 2014 with the Transformer Book Duet, which it touted as a tablet-laptop hybrid that can run on Windows 8.1 and Android 4.1. However, the device never landed on store shelves even though it was announced to much fanfare at the CES 2014. Rumors say the device was cancelled in March 2014 after receiving opposition from Microsoft and Google.

Xiaomi may announce the Mi Pad 2 on September 24 along with the Mi4c smartphone. Details such as the exact chipset, release date and pricing are yet to be disclosed.
