MIUI, Xiaomi's homemade interface, can now be installed on a number of Android-powered phones. The latest MIUI 7 is now available for popular smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S5, Nexus 5, OnePlus One and more.

MIUI 7 brings a number of new features, such as the Child Mode option, which lets users list the apps their kids can use. The new interface also includes an XXL text mode, which makes text easier to read in apps. The UI also supports developing third-party themes with the help of the new MUSE engine.

MIUI also has a feature that enables users to create baby albums automatically by using facial recognition software that identifies images of children.

Xiaomi claims that MIUI 7 will consume less power in comparison to previous versions of the software, and users will also witness improved responsiveness.

On Aug. 28, MIUI released a list of devices that can be upgraded to MIUI 7 in China as well as other regions. The list includes some popular devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Note 3, Google Nexus 4, Nexus 5, LG G3, LG G Pro, HTC One X, HTC One (M8), OnePlus One, Huawei P7, Huawei Ascend P1, Oppo N1 and more.

MIUI 7 originally supports Xiaomi devices such as Mi 4, Redmi Note and Redmi 2. It should be noted that some features may or may not work properly if the UI is installed on third-party devices. Experts suggest that Android device owners who want to install MIUI 7 on their handsets should make a backup of their phone before upgrading to MIUI 7.

"Please note that this is MIUI 7 China ROM. And ported ROMs are not tested by MIUI officially; there might be risks flashing the ROM. Please think twice before you start the procedure," a MIUI forum advised.
