On Wednesday, EA Sports rolled out the much expected patch for Madden NFL 16, addressing a number of reported bugs. Fixes came for the gameplay in general, but other parts of the game were repaired as well, such as the Connected Franchise mode and Madden Ultimate Team.

One of the fixes works on a bug that caused encroachment penalties to AI defenders. Another annoying error was the so-called invisible-defender-glitch. What happened was that the player became invisible before and after intercepting the ball. It, however, remained visible and keeps swinging in the invisible hands of the not so visible player. Thankfully, the uncanny situation has been resolved in the patch.

A number of additional problems concerning the Connected Franchise were adjusted, which is more than welcome. Developers EA Tiburon urged gamers to abstain from playing the Connected Franchise mode before the patch is released because of its inherent bugs.

At the moment, the patch is available only for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms, with little information about its release for other consoles or PCs.

Here is a detailed description of the patch:

Gameplay

  • Getting encroachment penalties is no longer an issue when AI defenders are after random huddle breaks and during the no-huddle stage of offense.
  • Occasional issue caused receivers to be called down by contact even if there was no contact involved.
  • The warps of quarterback locomotion on a number of drop backs had bugs.

Connected Franchise

  • Issue that gave players more than 100 confidence, generating a short-term overpowered boost.
  • The offensive linemen now have better regression tuning.
  • The accuracy rating of rookies is tweaked.
  • Pocket quarterbacks now generate a normal number of rushing attempts.
  • Teams that want to enroll elite free agents now have to pay a fair price.
  • Free agents no longer at risk of disappearance from the pool.

Madden Ultimate Team

  • An issue would make some items display no image.

Other

  • Issue where the commentary line and presentation would be identical in case of quarterbacks returning from injury.
  • A crash would often occur when using multiple controllers.
  • A crash that could occur at game exit which put the background video into a loop.
  • General bugs and stability issues.
