Classic first-person action role-playing video game System Shock is back with a new Enhanced Edition.

System Shock was released in 1994 and the video game developed by Looking Glass Technologies attracted many gamers. Online store GOG announced on Tuesday, Sept. 22, that the original System Shock is now available from its website with a new Enhanced Edition.

"On release, System Shock forever changed the face of action gaming - it ushered an era of storytelling, choices, and RPG elements unlike ever before - directly influencing all-time classics like Deus Ex and Bioshock. Today, the legend returns in better shape than ever," as unveiled by GOG.

The game has a price tag of $9.99 but GOG is currently offering a discount of 20 percent, which means gamers can buy the classic game for $7.99.

GOG announced that System Shock: Enhanced Edition comes with official support for resolutions up to 1024x768 pixels in comparison to the original 640x480 pixels. This means that the game will be easily playable on modern computers. System Shock: Enhanced Edition also includes widescreen mode of 854x480 pixels.

The game has been streamlined with mouselook mode, which means gamers will not have to deal with the old shooter controls. Item management is easy in the new gameplay and it has more intuitive inventory. The Enhanced Edition of the game also comes with some new controls and several bug fixes.

Many gamers, who have already downloaded and played the game, have praised the game a lot.

"The game's creators managed to bring to life an environment so life-like by contemporary standards, that playing the game I felt immersed completely. All the emotions were genuine. Awe, disgust, curiosity, and fear," said a user on GOG.

"One of the greatest games of its era. A huge, immersive sci-fi adventure full of tension and unpredictable twists. Not to be missed," commented another user on GOG.

One gamer also went on to say that System Shock is one of the best video games ever made.

System Shock: Enhanced Edition does not need an activation or Internet connection to play. GOG is also offering a 30-day money back guarantee on the game.

GOG states that customers should have a PC running on Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 with 1.5 GHz Core i3 processor with any GPU that supports SDL2 and 100 percent OpenGL graphics. The game can run on a system that has 128MB RAM, although 256MB of RAM is recommended.
