Samsung is reportedly readying its Galaxy F / S5 Prime for a September launch to battle Apple's 4.7-inch iPhone 6. A new image of the smartphone has leaked showing off its metal case and QHD display.

Sales of Samsung's current flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5 has not given Samsung the kind of sales the company has become accustomed to when it introduces its latest and greatest device. To try and drum up sales and be a formidable competitor to Apple's highly anticipated 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6, the company will reportedly introduce a new Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone in September with the Galaxy F / S5 Prime and its Galaxy Note 4 phablet.

Samsung plans on trying to outshine Apple by using a very high resolution 2560 x 1440 Super AMOLED in the Galaxy F / S5 Prime. Apple's 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is expected to use a lower higher resolution display than previous iPhone but will fall short with its rumored 1704 x 960 resolution.

Another key area where Samsung will put focus on offering a true iPhone 6 alternative will come in the form of something Apple has been doing for years. Consumers like their smartphones to feel premium and Apple's anodized aluminum unibody cases only add to the appeal of Apple's devices. Samsung is expected to use a metal case for the first time on one of its smartphones.

The always-reliable tipster evleaks has shared a new image of the Samsung Galaxy F / S5 Prime. He has already shown us the smartphone in a "Perfect Golden" color choice and soon followed with a different golden hue in the form of a "Glowing Gold" Galaxy F / S5 Prime.

The image evleaks posted shows the Samsung Galaxy F / S5 Prime with a silver brushed metal case. It matched previous images of the smartphone, which shows the heart rate sensor that debuted on the Galaxy S5 is in the same area, right below its rear camera on the Galaxy F / S5 Prime.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy F / S5 Prime will feature a 5.2 to 5.3-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad HD display and use a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3 GB of RAM. Its camera capabilities are said to include a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilization) and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone is also expected to be IP67 certified to be waterproof and dust-resistant, just like the Galaxy S5.

This surely won't be the last time we hear some Galaxy F / S5 Prime leaks and you can expect us to bring you any new information.
