Verizon is preparing to launch its latest Droid Maxx 2 and Droid Turbo 2 smartphones with Motorola at a press event on Oct. 27. The carrier tweeted a short teaser video showing off the Droid Turbo 2's 'shatterproof' display.

One of the biggest fears of any smartphone owner is accidentally dropping the handset and shattering its once perfect display. HTC saw this problem and in an effort to attract customers to its flagship HTC One M9 smartphone, it debuted a free 'Uh-Oh' protection plan that would replace the smartphone for free within the first year for a cracked screen or water damage.

It seems that Motorola is also stepping up to the plate when it comes to shattered smartphone displays and has come up with what Verizon is claiming to be the world's first smartphone with a display that won't crack, according to leaked promotional documents for the Droid Turbo 2.

Verizon took to its Twitter page and posted a short video with the message, "Soon you'll worry more about snowfalls than phone falls."

The video begins with, "Your expectations will be shattered." and appears to show a glass snow globe shattering in reverse, with an image of the Droid Turbo 2 and message of "Coming Soon."

The Droid Turbo 2 is expected to share the stage with the Droid Maxx 2 at Verizon's press event on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The Droid Turbo 2 is believed to boast the world's first smartphone with a shatterproof 5.43-inch Quad HD display. It will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM. The handset will reportedly be made available in 32GB and 64GB internal storage configurations and include a microSD expansion slot.

The Droid Turbo 2's camera capabilities will include a 21-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing shooter for video chat and selfies. The smartphone will ship with a large 3,760 mAh battery with TurboPower and Fast Wireless Charging support, which will provide up to 13 hours of power when plugged in for 15 minutes and should provide up to 48 hours of battery life.
