For those waiting patiently and impatiently for the Destiny beta, waiting is coming to an end very soon. Bungie recently announced that the Destiny beta will launch on July 17 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Those on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One will have to wait until July 24.

Furthermore, Activision, publisher of Destiny, has outlined the plans for the special edition releases. This includes the Destiny Ghost Edition for $149.99, the Destiny Limited Edition for $99.99, and the downloadable Destiny Digital Guardian Edition for $89.99.

The Destiny Ghost Edition is packed in a Steel Box, which includes bonus in-game content, and a collectable folio. In addition, the package comes with a Golden Age Relics, a motion-activated Ghost statue that features voice recordings from actor, Peter Dinklage, and a letter of introduction.

The Limited Edition only contains the Steel Box, the bonus in-game content, and the collectable folio.

Both editions contain Destiny Expansion Pass, which will allow players to download two planned expansion packs free. For those who have no intention to purchase the special editions, they will have the option to purchase both expansion packs for $34.99, or individually for $19.99 whenever they are ready.

The beta is expected to end on July 28, so players should get involved early to get the most out of the game before it releases on September 9.

Destiny is the first game from Bungie that isn't Halo; it's also the developer's first multiplatform title. Interestingly enough, Bungie is working more closely with Sony this time around instead of Microsoft, as evident by the amount of love PlayStation 4 owners are getting.

They have experienced the alpha, the first to play the beta, and they are bound to get some exclusive contents that will never launch on other consoles.

On the matter of marketing, publisher of Destiny, Activision, is planning a $500 million marketing push, the most for any game in history. This could push the title to achieve a massive launch, and could also push Call of Duty on the wayside. It's entirely possible, but it could all depend on how great the game is in the eyes of gamers.
