Toyota has recalled over 1.9 million hybrid Prius cars due to a software glitch and at least 295,000 RAV4 SUVs, RX350 crossovers and Tacoma pickup trucks, to fix electrical faults that could cause stability controls and anti-lock brakes to become inoperative and increase the risk of crash. Market analysts have dubbed the move, announced within the past one week, a preemptive recall.
