Sony believes the audience of shooter video games, probably today's one of the most renowned gaming categories, is shifting from Xbox One to PlayStation 4.

As such, Lauren Bradley, the PlayStation UK marketing manager, said the company is highly anticipating huge success for the Star Wars Battlefront which is set to land later within the month.

“This generation, the shooter audience is tending to switch over to PS4," said Bradley in an interview. "[S]o we’ve got high expectations for Star Wars Battlefront around both launch and into next year."

Sony has secured partnership deals with three biggest shooter franchises which are set to be unveiled within the year, including Destiny, Star Wars Battlefront and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

Previously, Xbox and Microsoft held the Call of Duty DLC exclusivity deal. However, it has changed this summer as it was handed over to Sony.

Some gamers believe the edge of PS4 over Xbox One when it comes to first-person shooter titles are its controllers.

In the meantime, Electronic Arts predicts Battlefront will generate a banging 13 million in sales.

It appears, however, that Microsoft seems not troubled. In fact, it foresees that Xbox One will still continue to rule most shooter aficionados this year and until at a later time.

Aaron Greenberg, the Xbox marketing boss, claimed those who wish to play Gears of War, Call of Duty, Halo and Battlefront prefer to play via Xbox One.

"And so, we feel like we'll continue to be where more of the core shooter fans continue to play," touted Greenberg. "We'll continue to be where most of the multiplayer gaming continues to happen."
