The next system update for the Xbox One will introduce several new social and mobile features into the gaming console.

Some of the features to be implemented were requested by users through the recently launched Xbox Feedback channel, where gamers can send in their comments and suggestions to improve the Xbox One experience.

The new features, which will be first released to users who get early access to the system update, were discussed in the Xbox Wire, the official Xbox blog.

The first new feature are activity feed updates, which will change how users interact with their friends through the activity feed into an experience similar to how social networks operate. The interface of the activity feed will be changed into a longer, single column scrolling list that will include more content. Users will be able to post on their activity feed directly using text. Users will also be able to "like" and post comments on items listed on the feed. Game clips and other contents can be shared through the activity feed, either as a post or as a message attachment to friends. Users will also receive notifications when someone else likes, posts a comment or shares a posted item. Every user will also be receiving a personal feed under their profile, and using SmartGlass, users can see the activities of their friends.

The second new feature is an expanded Friends area on the Home screen, so that users will be able to better stay updated with what their friends are doing. Included in what users see are the top games that friends are playing and a leaderboard that shows friends with the best Gamerscores.

The third new feature is the addition of mobile purchases, which is one of the most requested features received through Xbox Feedback. Users will be able to purchase games and add-on content remotely through Xbox.com or SmartGlass, and if the gaming console is configured to automatically accept updates, the Xbox One will start downloading once the purchase has been made.

The fourth new feature is low battery notification, which will inform users that the power in the batteries of their controller is running low. The notification will pop up on the screen, which allows users to pause and change batteries instead of the power suddenly cutting off while playing.

The fifth new feature are disabled notifications during the playback of video, as requested through Xbox Feedback.

The sixth new feature is the addition of 3D Blu-ray support through an update on the Blu-ray player app of the Xbox One.

The seventh new feature is the addition of OneGuide in Mexico, Brazil, Ireland and Austria, which shows listings for TV programs in the four countries as part of the Preview program. The update also adds a OneGuide Issue Reporter under the Troubleshooting tab of the settings of TV & OneGuide.

The eighth and last new feature is the display of when a friend was last seen in the Friends list, showing how much time has passed since a friend has played online.

In addition the several new features, Xbox One is being prepared to ship in 29 new market locations this coming September.
