Information about Fallout 4 mods on consoles will arrive soon, at least according to a tweet made by Fallout 4 developer Bethesda.

When Bethesda announced Fallout 4 at this year's E3, they surprised fans by stating that mods created for the PC version of the game would also eventually become available for the Xbox One and PlayStation versions.

When a fan asked Bethesda about console mods on Twitter, the company didn't give a lot of information but did say that details about giving console players access to PC mods would come soon.

Of course, "soon" in video game terms could mean next year, but as the game released in November, it's likely something where soon actually means soon.

Mods allow players to customize games, such as Fallout 4, to their own liking. Those customizations can range from making a game resemble another game, adding lightsabers to gameplay and even customizing game characters' costumes. Traditionally, mods are exclusive to PC versions of titles, but Bethesda surprised gamers by announcing that it's working on a way to let console players get access to mods, too.

Bethesda plans on releasing a Creation Kit for players to create mods early this year, with those mods arriving on Xbox One first, and then the PlayStation 4 later.

"We want to do it in a way that's easy," said Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines last year to Game Spot. "This is not about, 'You have to have a PC,' 'You have to do it yourself.' The idea is you go to play the game, there's a menu option, you click on it, and there's a bunch of stuff for you to download. And you click on the stuff that you want and you start playing a game with these new mods. So we want it to be a really streamlined, fun experience. There's still specifics that we have to work out. It's part of our post-launch plan."

Fallout 4 is available now on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
