Good news for gamers as Ubisoft has granted an extension to The Division Closed Beta for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC by 24 hours.

On Sunday, Jan. 31, the video game developer and publisher gave a ray of hope to fans of the game who could not access Tom Clancy's The Division Closed Beta despite preordering the online shooter.

The Division Closed Beta went live on Jan. 28 for the Xbox One, followed by its launch for the PC and PS4 on Jan. 29.

However, due to unexpected demand for The Division Closed Beta, on Jan. 29, Ubisoft was compelled to restrict some gamers from joining in even though they had preordered the game.

Ubisoft also issued an update at the time stating that access for demo of the online shooter was not guaranteed even for those who had preordered.

"Due to the unprecedented demand for access to The Division beta, we can no longer guarantee access. If you have already preordered The Division and have yet to receive your key, we're working closely with our partners to ensure that you receive it tomorrow when we send out the next batch of keys," notes the update from the developer.

Now, Ubisoft has offered not only a time extension for the beta, but also opened it up to waitlisted registered players. Those who are registered would be emailed an invitation token. The invite will be sent out on a first-come-first serve basis, so those who were among the initial few to sign up will receive the tokens first.

Those who had preordered The Division and were unable to join the beta will now be able to do so thanks to the extension. The previous end date for the beta was Monday, Feb. 1, but now it has been shifted to Tuesday, Feb. 2. The servers will be open till 6 a.m. ET.

"In order to allow everyone who has access to fully enjoy the Beta, we're happy to announce we're extending the duration by 24h for all players. As a result, servers will remain open until Tuesday, Feb. 2, 12 p.m. CET | 6 a.m. EST | 3 a.m. PST," writes Natchai Stappers, Ubisoft community manager in the game's official forum.

While the extension may not make up for losing gameplay over the weekend — something is better than nothing, right?

Tom Clancy's The Division is poised for a March 8 launch for Xbox One, Windows PC and PlayStation 4.
