Feb. 27 marks two decades of chasing and battling pocket monsters. Nintendo and the Pokemon company have a ton of titles planned for the series, due for arrival this year, but for now it's time to celebrate!

Actually, the festivities have already begun. On Friday, Nintendo and the Pokemon Company held a digital presentation that was full of the feels for anyone who spent any part of their youth being ambushed by wild Pokemon in between bouts with master trainers.

During the presentation, the partners offered a few details about the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon titles, which will be released on the 3DS later this year.

Now, the two companies have a bit more Pokemon news to share and they'll disseminate it via Twitch. The event, slated for 1 p.m. EST, may offer a bit more information about what Sun and Moon's gameplay will entail.

At 9 p.m., Twitch will hold a 24-hour-long marathon of episodes from the "Pokemon" TV series.

And if that isn't enough Pokemon for one day, today is also the launch date for the re-releases of the original Pokemon Red and Blue games. Those, along with Yellow, are available in the Nintendo eShop.

Still not enough? Those who are yet to be satiated on Pokemon content can give this thing a whirl – the digital timeline of 20 years of Pokemon happenings.

It's a big day for Pokemon and a big year for the series. Along with the new and old titles of the core franchise, the Pokemon Company will also release Pokemon Go later this year.

An augmented reality title, Pokemon Go is Niantic's baby. That's the Google-backed company that has sparked gang wars between inner-city scavenger hunters. Apparently, players got no love for newbies who choose a team that isn't theirs.

Niantic received $5 million to ensure that it seals the deal on what could be a new flavor of Pokemon craze.

"Pokémon Go is looking good," said John Hanke, chief executive of Niantic. "We'll share more details with the world soon. There certainly are a lot of fans."
