Android 6.0 Marshmallow brought its fans a myriad of changes and improvements, and although some are obvious, other are more subtle.

One notable modification in Marshmallow is the way in which the Application section functions. Pro tip: you can easily find it in the Settings menu.

Even if it has subtle reworks, the full functionality is there, and there is something extra to look forward to. That is why we compiled this step by step guide to showcase how you may clear both the app data and the app cache on a device running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Some of you might remember how the process works on Android Lollipop. Even if you don't, know that the steps are a little different this time.

First step: enter the Settings menu and find the Apps. Once there, you can search for specific apps that you want to clear the cache from. Lollipop users would expect that a direct Clear Cache button would be there in every app.

In Android Marshmallow, you must tap on Storage, and open the sub-menu. There, you can find the Clear Cache, alongside a Clear Data button.

Should you desire to remove all the cache from every app on your device, Marshmallow allows you to save time and do so.

Simply go to Settings, find Storage & USB and tap the Cached data button. Conversely, you can tap the Cached data tab, which erases all your apps' cached data. For tap-happy (or just clumsy) users, there is a confirmation box that asks you to confirm that you indeed wish to get rid of the app data or cache.

One scenario when clearing cache could be a great help is when an app behaves erratically. Another is when your device starts to lag and function at a noticeable slower speed than usual.

Clearing data, however, is different: it instantly removes all user data and files associated with a certain app. Basically, it is exactly like you would reinstall the app, only that you are saving the download and re-install time.
