Motorola will officially announce its latest flagship smartphone at a press event on Sept. 4. The 'new Moto X' was spotted in Verizon's computer system with both a 16 GB and 32 GB Moto Maker option.

When Motorola released the Moto X in August 2013, the company decided to offer a unique feature of allowing users to customize the look of the smartphone by using its new Moto Maker online design service. The process allows customers to personalize the look of the smartphone by choosing different colors and textures for the handset's rear case and accent colors.

The Moto Maker service was announced as an exclusive for AT&T, while Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile only offered the standard black or white model. In November 2013, Motorola finally opened up the Moto Maker customization service to Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile Moto X customers.

We recently reported that a new report claimed AT&T would once again get the exclusive on the Moto Maker service with its upcoming flagship Moto X + 1. That might not be the case, as a leaked screenshot of Verizon's computer systems show the carrier will offer the smartphone with Moto Maker.

Phandroid is reporting that one of its sources sent the site a screenshot from Verizon's inventory system. The smartphone is listed as "the new Moto X" and not Moto X + 1 -- the new name is reportedly referenced on cases, rebate forms, and other internal documents. Verizon will offer the smartphone in a standard black, white/bamboo, and 16 GB and 32 GB Moto Maker options. There's no mention of a release date or pricing information, but we'll most likely find out that information and more on Sept. 4 at Motorola's press event.

The new Moto X is expected to feature a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD AMOLED display and run Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box. It will be powered by a 2.2-GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 2 GB of RAM. Its camera capabilities are said to include a 13-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and selfies.

Leaked images of the smartphone also show it will have an aluminum frame and thinner body than its predecessor. We'll be covering Motorola's Sept. 4 event and will keep you posted on all of Motorola's announcements.
