The Division doesn't yet have a true end-game activity, but that will soon change with the free Incursion update next week. When it does finally arrive, players will find themselves facing the greatest challenge in Ubisoft's shooter RPG yet.

So, just how challenging is the upcoming Falcon Lost incursion? Apparently, really hard. So hard that the game's lead designer, Matthias Karlson, and lead economic designer, Andrada Greciuc, have yet to complete the activity, as revealed in the developer's latest podcast (via VG247).

Karlson goes on to explain that the challenge of the incursion is worth it.

"Incursions are our most difficult and most highly rewarding challenges in the game," Karlson says. "With that degree of challenge, we need to match that with rewards. It's going to be the toughest thing you can do but also the source of the coolest stuff."

As for what exactly makes the incursion so difficult, that likely boils down to the new types of game mechanics being introduced for the first time.

"You're going to see new ingredients in terms of what happens and what you're exposed to playing in Incursions," Karlson says.

One of those new ingredients is a vehicle battle against an armored APC, a fight that should prove intense even for the most powerful and well-coordinated player teams. In that regard, incursions sound awfully similar to raids in Destiny, as they too offered surprising new challenges for players to overcome in exchange for some of the best gear in the game. Incursions will also have two difficulties: hard and challenging.

It's not only the game's first incursion that is soon to be added to the game. Supply drops will give players who enjoy spending time in the Dark Zone something new to fight over, as these special (and heavily guarded) supply crates will yield high-level gear that doesn't need to be extracted. The update will also address that annoying game-breaking backpack bug that some players have been dealing with over the past few weeks.

The Division's incursion update arrives for free on April 12 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
