Samsung is finally gearing up to release its spherical Gear 360 VR camera in the U.S. The 360-degree action-cam from the company is set to hit the shelves this month and will set consumers back by $349.99.

Come Aug. 19, consumers in the U.S. will finally be able to get their hands on the Gear 360 VR camera, which was announced in February at the MWC 2016. At the time, it was anticipated that the VR camera would hit the store shelves along with the flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones, but that was not to be.

However, if you have been patiently waiting for the Gear 360 VR camera all this time, then a few more days won't hurt. The gadget will finally be up for purchase alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which was announced on Aug. 2.

While the official announcement did not disclose the price for the Gear 360 VR camera, the press release from Verizon Wireless post Samsung's announcement has mentioned that the carrier would retail the accessory for $349.99 in select Verizon Destination stores.

In April, it was rumored that the Gear 360 VR camera would launch at the end of that month in some parts of Asia. The gadget eventually launched in Singapore and South Korea on April 29. A listing on a German website had also set the rumor mills churning and hinted at a $396 price for the accessory.

Two months later, the VR camera actually made its way to U.S. shores as reported by Tech Times, but was available in limited quantities for $349.99.

The ball-shaped camera with twin lenses enables users to shoot videos for 360-degree presentations, as well as for VR headsets.

Each lens of the Gear 360 VR camera is a fisheye that can cover 195-degree viewing angles. When this is stitched together at 3,840 x 1,920 pixels by deploying compatible Galaxy smartphones such as the Galaxy S7, one gets a complete 360 x 180 degree viewing experience that can be explored on a VR headset. Alternately, one can drag their fingers or the cursor on a touchscreen or PC.

The Samsung Gear 360 VR camera is both water- and dust-resistant and supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which can be used to transfer images and videos onto the compatible Samsung smartphone or a local network. Alternately, one can record a video or images directly onto the microSD card.

Are you excited for the Samsung Gear 360 VR camera's arrival in the U.S.?
