Kyocera rolls out yet another rugged smartphone, and this time around, it's called the DuraForce PRO, a handset that touts a "Super Wide View FHD Action Camera."

Right off the bat, it appears to be a midrange device, sporting pretty decent specs. With that said, it won't contend with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S7 or the OnePlus 3, but it will bring something interesting to the table.

Going straight to the hardware components, it packs in an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 (four 1.5 GHz and another four 1.2 GHz) along with 2 GB worth of RAM under the hood and 32 GB of internal storage. The 5-inch smartphone is also loaded with a 3,240 mAh battery pack to keep the lights on throughout the day.

As for the headline-worthy feature it has in store, it's equipped with an action camera that can capture footage in Full HD with a wide angle view. That means it has an independent image processor, allowing it to go into sports, slo-mo and underwater modes, to name a few. However, it doesn't seem to support 4K recording, something that certain devices of the brood such as the GoPro Hero 4 offer.

That fixture is positioned beside a 13 MP rear-facing camera, and of course, the DuraForce PRO also has a 5 MP front snapper.

To fill out the rest of the specs sheet, it boasts Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, a fingerprint sensor right below the power button, wireless charging, LTE connectivity and a dual-front speaker setup.

Also, with an IP68 water resistance certification and a Military Standard 810G, it can survive being submerged in water for up to 30 minutes, steer clear of dust and stay safe from shock, vibration and extreme temperature. In other words, it can handle the outdoors well.

"Kyocera's new DuraForce PRO provides consumers and businesses with industry-leading rugged technology and is the only rugged smartphone with a built-in high-definition action camera, enabling users to stay connected and capture the content they love no matter the circumstance or environment," Chuck Becher, senior division vice president of sales, marketing and products at Kyocera, says.

Availability-wise, the smartphone maker has yet to announce a solid release date and pricing, but it did say that the DuraForce PRO is coming this fall.
