Microsoft's Solitaire Collection will soon be headed to Android and iOS, allowing mobile users to enjoy the popular games on the go.

Solitaire has long been a staple of Windows and one of the most played games worldwide, and the Solitaire Collection comes preinstalled on Microsoft's latest Windows 10 operating system.

Amid a slew of available mobile games on both Android and iOS, the Solitaire Collection will soon join the fray and get more users addicted to the casual gaming experience.

Microsoft confirmed that it will soon release the Solitaire Collection on iOS and Android, but has yet to offer a specific launch date. The games part of this collection are still in the development stage at this point, as Microsoft still needs testers and feedback before the Solitaire Collection is ready for prime time on the two mobile platforms.

With this in mind, the company will open a beta program that will give interested users access to the Solitaire Collection on either iOS or Android. Once they register in the beta program, testers will become members of the Microsoft Casual Gamers Inner Circle.

"We are developing Microsoft Solitaire Collection for iOS and Android devices and we are looking for a group of passionate Solitaire players to help us test our beta version of the game as we continue to work on it," Microsoft notes, as cited by MSPowerUser. "As a valuable member of the Microsoft Casual Gamers Inner Circle, we wanted to give you the first opportunity to be a part of our beta program and give us feedback on the experience."

The Microsoft Solitaire Collection will reportedly be compatible with devices running Apple's iOS 8 or later and Google's Android 4.4 or newer. The casual gaming experience will require devices on both mobile operating systems to have resolutions of at least 800 x 480 pixels.

It remains to be seen just when the Microsoft Solitaire Collection will actually be ready to launch on Android and iOS, as it will largely depend on how the beta testing program works out.

Considering that Microsoft is already looking to test it out, however, it should not be very long before mobile users get a new gaming treat.

This marks another step, albeit minor, in Microsoft's efforts to play nice with other platforms. Just recently, for instance, the company agreed to preload OneDrive, Office and Skype apps onto Android devices made by Lenovo. Solitaire may be the opposite of productivity apps, but it's still good to see Microsoft taking other platforms into account.

We'll keep an eye out for any new developments on the matter and keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned. Until then, you can download the existing version from Microsoft to try it out on your Windows 10 device.
