Rime, the long-anticipated puzzle-adventure game from developer Tequila Works has released its first new trailer in almost three years.

In addition to the trailer, it was revealed that Rime, formerly an exclusive title for the PlayStation 4, is now being prepared to also launch on the Xbox One, PC, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch.

Rime Re-Reveal Trailer

The so-called re-reveal trailer for Rime was shown through IGN, which reported the game is set to be released in May.

Rime, first announced as an exclusive game for the PlayStation 4 at Gamescom 2013, is now a multiplatform title. However, as can be seen in the new trailer, the game keeps the unique cartoon-like look that drew the interest of players to it from the original announcement.

In the official website of Tequila Works, the developer describes Rime as a single-player puzzle-adventure game about a boy who found himself shipwrecked on a magical island after a severe storm.

"Players must use their wits to decipher the challenges and secrets of an expansive world strewn with rugged terrain, wild creatures, and the crumbling ruins of a long-forgotten civilization," Tequila Works continued, with the description clearly seen in the re-reveal trailer.

The video started off with the boy shown shipwrecked on an island, and then quickly shows just how mysterious the island is. The trailer shows moving platforms, curious puzzles and presumably wicked enemies, along with a strange person in a red cloak that the boy is chasing after. Using light, sound, perspective, and even time, players are tasked with uncovering the island's secrets on what is said to be a deeply personal journey.

Rime No Longer Exclusive To PlayStation 4

Sony pulled out from its publishing deal with Tequila Works for Rime back in March 2016, as the game by then had spent a considerable amount of time in development with nothing to show for it. The developer then said that with the publishing deal no longer in effect, Rime could be brought to other platforms, a move that Tequila Works has now made.

According to IGN, its team in Spain visited Tequila Works to cover Rime, including what happened between the developer and Sony, what has happened since then and the gameplay that Rime offers. More information regarding Rime will be released through IGN's article over the month.

New Game Added To Nintendo Switch Library

The announced plan to bring Rime to the Nintendo Switch is important news for gamers who are looking forward to the hybrid console, as the early games lineup will play a crucial factor in the launch success of the Nintendo Switch.

A previous report claimed that games available to the Nintendo Switch upon launch include two new Super Mario titles, one of which is a new 3D platformer while the other one is an RPG that will be a crossover with the Raving Rabbids franchise.

Other games known to be coming to the Nintendo Switch include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Dragon Quest XI, although without official release dates yet, it is unclear whether they will be available upon the expected March 2017 launch of the hybrid console.
