Blizzard is now making World of Warcraft gold even more valuable by allowing players to use Tokens to purchase Overwatch loot boxes, Hearthstone card packs, and Heroes of the Storm content.

Introduced back in 2015, WoW Tokens are a kind of special currency that provides players a way to either purchase more game time or legitimately buy in-game gold with real money. With the new update, the developers are adding yet another option to the mix, making them exchangeable for Battle.net credit and, by extension, more in demand than ever before.

A Closer Look At How WoW Tokens Now Work

Titled "WoW Token Overview," the new video guide that Blizzard has just posted on YouTube, which can be viewed below, covers everything there is to know about WoW Tokens — from how to auction them off to how to convert them into Battle.net balance.

Basically, players can now turn gold into real-world cash, but that's money that can be spent only on other Blizzard products. Still, it's a game-changing and welcome addition.

How To Use WoW Gold To Buy Loot Boxes, Card Packs, And More

Just to lay it all out, all you need to do is head to the Auction House and select the Browse tab and WoW Token from the list. Click on Buyout to purchase it and get the item from your mailbox. After that, just use the item and choose whether you want to claim more game time or Battle.net credits worth $15.

"Buying a Token is simple: just visit the Auction House and use your hard-earned gold to purchase one of the WoW Tokens put up for sale. Once the Token arrives in your in-game mailbox, right-click it to add it to your bag, then right-click it in your inventory. You'll then be able to choose whether to add 30 days of game time or add Battle.net Balance ($15 USD; currency and amount varies by region) to your Battle.net account," Blizzard says.

However, it should be pointed out that Tokens cost $20 each, so purchasing them to rake in a lot of Battle.net credits does more harm than good.

According to wowtoken.info, the value of a Token on North America servers is upward of 70,000 gold, at the time of this writing, and because of the update, it's safe to expect that the price won't be going down anytime soon. On the other side of the fence, that's good news for those who want to spend real-world money to net a ton of gold.

What Gamers Stand To Get

To get a clearer picture of what this entails, users now have more chances to complete the perfect deck in Hearthstone, get that Mei or D.Va skin they've always wanted in Overwatch, or nab those heroes, skins, and mounts in Heroes of the Storm even if they're playing only WoW. This comes with great timing too, as the Lunar events are still ongoing.

What about Diablo III and StarCraft II? Well, Blizzard will have to launch some sort of microtransaction system for them before they can join the other games.

Long story short, WoW players now have the option to exchange Tokens for $15 of Battle.net credits, aside from buying gold or extending their subscriptions.
