There's a new Huawei MateBook in town and it's ready to take on the MacBook Air, sporting a gorgeous design and powerful specs all around: Meet the MateBook X.

The sleek new Huawei MateBook X solves the issues that limited the success of Huawei's previous Windows 10 MateBook and takes things to the next level, neatly combining power with style and portability.

The MateBook X is a 13-inch ultrabook sporting an aluminum clamshell design rather than a hybrid 2-in-1 build. Huawei also packed seventh-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors (Kaby Lake), a solid battery life and a slew of other exciting specs and features to make it a worthy Windows 10 ultrabook offering. Let's take a closer look at what it has to offer.

Huawei Mate X Specs

The laptop's 13-inch display delivers a 2K resolution and 3:2 aspect ratio, sporting an ultra-thin bezel of just 4.4 mm and a 88 percent screen-to-body ratio. The MateBook X packs either 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM, while storage options include 256 GB or 512 GB SSDs. The RAM is not all that impressive, but 8 GB should nonetheless suffice for average users looking for a solid, powerful, yet highly portable laptop. The battery should last for up to 10 hours of 1080p video playback.

The MateBook X further features a fanless design, two USB Type-C ports (one on each side), a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button compatible with Windows Hello, and a Dolby Atmos Sound System for a crisp and immersive audio experience.

In some markets, Huawei will also bundle a MateDock 2.0 USB Type-C dongle in the box, offering a USB Type-A port, HDMI, DVI and a second USB Type-C port.

"At Huawei, we strive to bring new advances to market that inspire people to imagine and explore what's next - our new flagship series of beautifully crafted MateBooks makes this possible," says Richard Yu, Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO.

"The Huawei MateBook X is designed for exceptional performance, combining advanced features to meet consumers' demands for an efficient and stylish device," Huawei further notes in its press release.

The MateBook X also comes with MateBook Manager baked in, making it easier to connect to Huawei smartphones.

Huawei Mate X Pricing And Availability

Huawei has yet to announce exact pricing and availability details for all markets, but it did unveil prices for Europe. At the same time, the company notes that prices will vary by market, so the European price tags may not necessarily reflect the prices in the United States.
